CicLAvia Numero Diez

The Bicycle Kitchen/La Bicicocina just wrapped another CicLAvia, this time back in the "Heart of LA" through the eastern areas of the city. We were at 5 Puntos hub, an area rich in history and culture but new to many Angelenos riding the route. We met amazing cyclists out enjoying the beautiful, albeit hot, day. Kitchen volunteers fixed a lot of flats and made a lot of people happy. We were pleased to introduce the Kitchen and our mission to new clientele.

We definitely look forward Numero Once in December 2014!

Bicycle Kitchen + Bresee Foundation

The Bresee Foundation is a youth center in Los Angeles that provides after-school programs and services that aid young people in finding their full potential. It goes without saying that bicycles fit into their mission by teaching basic mechanical skills, self-sufficiency, and help create a healthy lifestyle. It is the Kitchen's pleasure to work with Bresee in a program to teach a group of youth to fix up donated bikes to own and ride after several months of Fridays.

Kitchen Cook, Jose Molina, spearheaded this project and worked with a group of Bresee youth called the Friday Bike Club. They were all happy to repair and ride bikes they can call their own. Just in time for their summer biking trip!
